Super Princess Peach is a 2005 2D platformer for the Nintendo DS that famously reverses the typical "damsel in distress" trope by having Princess Peach rescue Mario and Luigi. 

Core Gameplay Mechanics

The game stands out from traditional Mario titles by focusing on Vibe Powers and the use of a magical companion. 

• Vibe Powers: Activated via the DS touch screen, Peach uses four emotional states to solve puzzles and fight:
• Joy (Yellow): Peach spins like a cyclone, allowing her to fly to high areas or clear away enemies.
• Rage (Red): Peach catches fire, enabling her to burn through obstacles and stomp the ground with great force.
• Gloom (Blue): Peach weeps, causing her to run faster and use her tears to grow plants or freeze surfaces.
• Calm (Green): A protective bubble surrounds Peach, slowly restoring her health while depleting her Vibe Gauge.
• Perry the Parasol: Peach’s primary weapon is a sentient umbrella named Perry. He can whack enemies, serve as a shield, and even "eat" enemies to refill Peach's Vibe Gauge. 

Story and Setting

• The Conflict: Bowser uses an artifact called the Vibe Scepter on Vibe Island to throw the Mushroom Kingdom into emotional chaos and kidnap Mario, Luigi, and several Toads.
• Vibe Island: The adventure spans eight worlds, including locations like Fury Volcano, Spooky Shriek Mansion, and Gleam Glacier.
• Perry's Backstory: Between worlds, players unlock dream sequences revealing Perry was once a young boy with magical powers who was transformed into an umbrella by mysterious wizards.
