Pokemon Ranger: Shadows of Almia is an action-role-playing game for the Nintendo DS and the second entry in the Pokémon Ranger series. Released in 2008, it introduces players to the Almia region, where they must protect nature and Pokémon from the villainous Team Dim Sun. 

Key Game Features

• Unique Capture Mechanic: Unlike main-series games, you "capture" Pokémon by drawing rapid circles around them with the DS stylus to fill a friendship gauge.
• Partner Pokémon: You can choose from 17 different partner Pokémon (one for each type available at the time), a significant increase from the two options in the original game.
• New Region & Pokémon: Explore the Almia region, which features diverse environments like deserts, forests, and icy valleys. The game features 270 Pokémon, including species from Pokémon Diamond and Pearl.
• Ranger Progression: Start as a Student Ranger at Ranger School and complete missions to rise to the rank of Top Ranger.
• Styler Upgrades: Completing quests earns you power-ups for your Capture Styler, improving its energy and unlocking new functions like the Vatonage Styler.
• Poké Assists & Field Moves: Captured Pokémon can use their unique abilities to help you in captures or to clear physical obstacles like fallen logs or fires.
