Rugs and tapestries were made famous during 14th and 15th century and were made in Aubusson, a small medieval town in France. The rugs have motifs in traditional design. During 1930s tapestry was made popular by artists such as Cocteau, Dufy, Dali, Braque, Calder and Picasso who were invited to Aubusson to express themselves through the medium of wool.
