Super Robot Taisen Original Generation is a turn-based tactical RPG released for the Game Boy Advance (GBA) in 2006 (North America). It is a unique entry in the long-running Super Robot Wars series because it features an entirely original cast of mechs and characters instead of licensed anime properties like Gundam or Mazinger. 

Key Gameplay Features

The game combines grid-based strategy with RPG progression and heavy narrative sequences. 

• Dual Protagonists: Players choose between two main characters, Ryusei Date or Kyosuke Nanbu. Each has a distinct, interconnected storyline with unique missions and mechs for the first half of the game before their parties eventually unite.
• Deep Customization: This title introduced the ability to equip and remove weapons on "Real-type" mechs, a first for the franchise. Pilots can also be upgraded using "Pilot Points" earned from defeating enemies to improve stats or learn new skills.
• Combat Animations: The game is well-regarded for its high-quality 2D battle animations that depict giant robots performing elaborate special attacks, complete with pilot cut-ins and shouting catchphrases.
• Scale of Play: A single playthrough can take 40+ hours, featuring over 70 scenarios across both routes. 

Story Setting

The plot follows humanity in the "Space Era" as they prepare for an alien invasion after a third meteor, Meteor 3, lands on Earth containing advanced "Extra-Over Technology" (EOT). As the Earth Federal Government develops "Personal Troopers" (humanoid mecha) to defend the planet, a civil war breaks out led by Dr. Bian Zoldark and the Divine Crusaders, while the alien Aerogaters arrive to reclaim their technology.
